How It Works
Below is the process for commissioning your own pet portrait or custom painting.
Every portrait is unique, and choosing the right size and surface helps your artwork feel beautifully suited to your home and your pet’s personality.
Here’s a simple guide to help you decide on the first steps of your paintings' journey.

1. Choosing the Perfect Size
Small Portraits (A5 – A4)
Perfect for:
-
gifts
-
subtle additions to gallery walls
-
minimalist or cosy spaces
These sizes feel intimate and detailed, ideal for a single pet with a gentle, close-up portrait.
Medium Portraits (A3)
Perfect for:
-
a statement piece on a shelf or desk
-
hanging in hallways, bedrooms, or offices
This is my most popular size — large enough for beautiful detail, but easy to place in almost any room.
Large Portraits (A2 and up)
Perfect for:
-
feature walls
-
living rooms, entryways, or above furniture
-
pets with dramatic markings or expressions
Larger pieces offer striking depth, texture, and presence. If you want a portrait that immediately draws the eye, this is the size to choose.
Fine-Art Paper (Traditional & Elegant)
A smoother, light textured, high quality surface that beautifully showcases delicate brushwork and soft realism.
Perfect if you love a classic fine-art look and plan to frame your portrait.
Best for:
-
timeless, gallery-style framing
-
smaller portraits
Canvas (Textured & Contemporary)
Canvas gives the portrait a more tactile, painterly feel, with natural texture.
It can be hung as-is for a modern, minimalist look.
Best for:
-
bold statements
-
larger portraits
-
homes with a contemporary or rustic style
Still Unsure? I’m Always Happy to Help
If you’re torn between sizes or materials, just send me a message. I can offer suggestions based on your wall space, your pet’s features, and the overall mood you’re hoping for.
Choosing these details should feel exciting, not overwhelming — and I’m here to guide you through it.

3. Choosing Your Favourite Photos
You'll need to send several clear, good quality photographs —ones which show your pet’s personality best.
I can help you choose the strongest reference image, and we can discuss any details you’d love included:
-
background colour
-
collar on/off
-
specific pose
-
unique features you want highlighted
This part is relaxed and collaborative — I want your portrait to feel just right.
This is an example of a great reference photo!
4. Reserve Your Portrait
Once you have decided on sizing and have your photographs gathered, fill out the 'Request to Book' form. Once reviewed, you'll receive a link to secure your painting with a 40% non-refundable booking deposit, which will go towards the total cost of your artwork.
This confirms your place in my schedule and allows me to start planning your artwork. Most portraits are finished within 2–6 weeks, depending on the size of your piece and my current waiting list.
If I have prior bookings, your portrait may fall toward the longer end of that range — but I will always keep you updated so you know exactly where your artwork stands.
Once the deposit is placed, you’ll receive a friendly welcome email from me with the next steps.

5. I Create the Painting
Once the details are agreed on, I begin painting your portrait with the same care, patience, and fine detail I use in all my work.
During the process, I may send a quick update or a close-up detail if something looks especially beautiful — many clients love seeing little glimpses of the artwork taking shape.
Each portrait is hand-painted with high-quality, materials designed to last.
6. Review & Approve
When your portrait is complete, I’ll send you clear, well-lit photos of the final piece.
This is your chance to request small adjustments if needed (most clients are thrilled instantly!).
Once you’re happy, the remaining balance is paid through a secure link.

7. Safe Packaging & Delivery
Your finished portrait will be carefully packaged using protective materials and shipped with tracking.
You’ll receive an email with tracking information and estimated delivery times. Shipping charges are calculated upon your initial request and will be included on your quote.
International shipping is available.
